Woodlawn Cemetery Shifts Graves One body to The Left.

Monday June 2nd, 2008

Many folks who use to walk the streets of the area are now buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana. Like most cemeteries, with time, the tombstones are beginning to ware down from the constant exposure to the elements. The groundskeepers of the cemetery have noticed not only are the graves adjusting and changing with time, but the bodies underneath are as well. Although it’s not proven with scientific accuracy, they have a “hunch” the bodies are no longer aligned with the proper grave markers. One grave in particular, for Isham Cook, is the grave that started the speculation. One of the keepers claimed the body “is still around somewhere under the grounds”, but feels it is not directly under the tombstone. After holding a meeting amongst the other grave keepers, it has been voted that all grave markers in Woodlawn Cemetery be shifted one body to the left, “Just in case”.

Check out D'z Nutz

Monday June 2nd, 2008

The state of Florida hates nuts. Republican State Senator Carey Baker introduced legislation to make it illegal for vehicles to display “nutz”. Nutz are a popular new truck decoration resembling various types of edible nuts. These plastic replications range anywhere from pecans to cashews. Baker says, that “if we overlook this small obscenity, then it could grow into a larger one, and we would have more problems in the future”. John Saller, president and founder of Truck Nutz, doesn’t seem to be worried with Florida’s legislation. He claims, “This is a first amendment thing. If people want to sport their favorite snack food on their truck, then they have the right.” Currently though, there are no laws on the books that make them illegal.

Asparagus: A Poem

The sun shown brightly

Green fronds glittered

Green Gold

Affordable. Edible.

CRASH!

The aftermath

A sudden gust of wind

The sun shown brightly

Illuminating destruction

There is no more

Come another day
